grow up. step up.

If there's one parenting method that I disagree with my parents, it's how they tend to be overprotective and condescending. I know many parents tend to shelter their kids alot, and some never quite learnt to let go of the apron strings. I remember I had to convince my parents that I had to do the growing up bit myself.

And the thing with my parents is they never do share family problems with my brother and I either. Not because they want to shelter us, but because they never seem to trust us to understand. Which is why we tend to find out about the problems really late too.

So when the bad news came, I was partly caught by surprise, and partly frustrated because of how they've made decisions without including us in the discussions. The long and short of it is that things are quite difficult at the moment. Which is perhaps a good thing for me, because it means I have to grow up and take more responsibility.

I have up to a month to find a job. So time to get off my lazy butt.
