the aunties' man.

I am officially employed!

Well, bar a few documents to sign and other administrative stuff...

Which is incredible news for me, because it means (provided I work hard enough), I am self-sufficient!

I went for an interview in the morning, which I thought didn't go well, though I was somehow invited for a 2nd round. Which I think is a big sign that sales and marketing is a sector that will hire just about anybody. Hah. After that was a 2nd round interview/observation day with another company.

It was pretty nerve-wrecking cause not only is it with a group of other potential candidates, but because your offer was basically based on the impressions they get from you. And you want to impress, but not seem like a pompous prick by overshadowing everyone either. My morale was dealt a blow right in the beginning, when one of the head honchos was asking questions, and was quite surprised when I said I had no previous working experience in sales and marketing. He asked me if the first interviewer knew about this, and I thought, dang, there goes my chance.

Which is why it's really praiseGod all the way because somehow they decided to take me in. Considering the other candidates had more work experience, I must say it's really quite a miracle as well. And even better is that provided I meet half my sales targets, I have a 'safety net' salary to fall back on on bad weeks, and the head office is located nottoofaraway at Leicester Street. And the company seems like a pretty motivated and friendly one, so I'm really excited and chuff about this opportunity.

So there you go. Nothing glamorous, but I've join the working class ranks in the Sales and Marketing sector. Thankfully no door to door direct sales though, so I won't have to sell vaccuum cleaners. Thanks to those who have supported and encouraged me all the way. You are now eligible to ask for a free drink when you meet me after I get my first pay...
