On World Cup:
Yesterday, the valiant Socceroos managed to produce a brilliant display against the 5-times World Cup champions Brazil. Before the World Cup even started, everyone felt only sympathy for Australia, who qualified for the first time, only to be placed in the same group as the almighty Samba Boys. Although they managed a miracle against Japan and won a few more fans, many were doubtful that the Socceroos would be able to perform against Brazil.
Yet, the minnows proved their mettle, and the scoreline certainly didn't indicate the strength of the two teams. While the first goal was due to poor defensive tracking, the second could only be put down to 'bad luck', for the ball hit the post and Fred managed to tap in the rebound. Certainly, the Socceroos impressed not just their own fans but the Brazillians as well. They played with strong defending, and many times hit the Brazillians on the counter-attack.
So, despite the loss, well done Socceroos! You made me a fan, and the nation is proud of you guys!
As for those who supported Brazil and scoffed at the Aussies, I can only say that you guys should have watched the match and not just boast about knowing the score.
C'mon Socceroos!
